This Privacy Policy explains what information Pave collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Pave you agree to the practices described here; see also our Terms of Service.
1. Information we collect
- Account info: name and email address when you sign up.
- Academic info you provide: current college, intended major, target transfer schools, GPA, AP exam scores, completed/in-progress/planned courses, and transcript text or images you upload or paste for AI parsing.
- Usage info: AI questions you ask, plans you generate, and basic feature usage (e.g. how many AI questions you've used today).
- Billing info: if you subscribe to Pro/Premium, Stripe processes your payment details directly — we never see or store your full card number.
2. How we use it
- To operate your account and show your saved courses, GPA, and transfer progress
- To send your academic context (major, completed courses, target schools) to our AI provider so it can generate a personalized course plan or answer your question
- To parse transcript text/screenshots you submit into structured course data
- To process subscription payments and manage billing
- To improve Pave's features and fix bugs
We do not sell your personal information.
3. Who we share it with
We share data only with the service providers needed to run Pave, under their own privacy/security terms:
- Supabase — hosts our database and handles authentication (your login session, account, and saved data).
- Anthropic (Claude API) — receives your questions and relevant academic context (major, college, completed courses, target schools) to generate AI responses and plans. Anthropic processes this per its own API data-use terms.
- Vercel — hosts the application.
- Stripe — processes payments for paid subscriptions; handles your payment method directly.
We don't share your academic data with your college, other students, or advertisers.
4. Data retention & deletion
We keep your data as long as your account is active. You can delete individual courses, plans, or your entire account at any time from Settings. Deleting your account removes your profile, saved courses, transfer plans, and chat history from our active database. Some records may be retained briefly in backups or as required for legal/tax purposes (e.g. billing records).
5. Your choices
- Access, correct, or delete your academic data anytime from Course Planner, Transcript, or Settings
- Delete your account entirely from Settings
- Email us at privacy@pave.app for a copy of your data or a manual deletion request
6. Cookies & local storage
We use cookies/local storage required for you to stay logged in and for basic app functionality (e.g. remembering your AI Advisor chat history on your device, theme preference). We don't use third-party advertising trackers.
7. Children's privacy
Pave is intended for community college students, generally 16 and older, and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
8. Security
We use industry-standard measures (encrypted connections, access-controlled database policies) to protect your data, but no system is 100% secure. Please use a strong, unique password.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy occasionally. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do; material changes will be communicated in-app.
